Dear Festividder
Festivids signups are open through Oct. 29! (It's a small-fandom vidding exchange.)
Thank you for making something for me! I am very easy to vid for! I love vids in general, I always have, and I like a lot of different kinds of things. If it's for one of my fandoms, I'm sure I will love it.
Music: I listen to a lot of different kinds of music. My favorite for vids tends to be pop, alternative, classic/80s/90s rock, that kind of thing. But I'm flexible, and anything you think fits the canon would make me happy! I love earnest vids unironically vidded to cheesy pop music, so don't worry about a song being too overplayed, over-vidded, or tropey. But I also like discovering new music through vids.
General likes: You really can't go wrong with ensemble vids for any of my requested fandoms. I absolutely love ensemble vids, or anything that celebrates the canon overall. I've requested all of these canons because I really like them and want more of them.
General dislikes: I'm not fond of heavy use of voiceovers (some voiceovers here and there for effect are fine), constructed reality vids that bring in clips from other media with the same actors to create a new narrative, or extremely cracky/ironic vids. I'm more into earnest feels than vids that undermine or subvert the source canon.
Dark Matter
This show was great and I miss it so much. Among the characters, Three and Five and Two and Android and Truffault are my faves, more or less in that order, so a vid focusing on any of those or any of the relationships between them would really make me happy (especially Three & Five, who I cannot get enough of; I also ship Three/Sarah and I think a vid about them would be really fantastic, or a general Sarah character-study vid). But you can't go wrong with any sort of general vid for this show. I love its themes of redemption and friendship/family and trying to be a good person in a hard world. There isn't anybody on this show I don't like.
Iron Fist
Not gonna lie, I love this oddball kung fu soap opera A WHOLE LOT, and I'm heartbroken about the cancellation. If I were going to pick something specific, what I would love most in this fandom would be a vid about Ward and Danny's friendship, a Ward character study, or a general ensemble vid. But I love everyone in this show and I ship Danny/Colleen (with tinier side ships of Misty/Colleen and Ward/Misty), so I would be happy with anything you give me for this! I really enjoy its optimism compared to most of the other Netflix MCU shows, and how much the characters care about each other, so something with an upbeat found-family vibe would be lovely. Feel free to bring in clips of various characters' storylines from their crossover eps in other Netflix shows.
Ant-Man movies
I love these movies and everyone in them! I don't think there was anything about them I didn't love - the blended family with Scott and Maggie and Paxton, the romance, Scott getting basically adopted by the Pym-Van Dynes and his little con family, all the side characters' stories, the fun and humor. I'd love an ensemble vid, a character/relationship study (of pretty much anyone), or anything else you want to make.
Engrenages/Spiral
This is a dark French cop/lawyer show that I fell for a couple of years ago and have never seen a vid for. I'm generally more interested in the cop side of the show than the lawyers, so something about Laure and Giraud and Tintin would be really fantastic, but I also dig the lawyers as characters (I'm just more fascinated by the cops' gritty-dark world and their close friendships with each other).
MacGyver (1985)
This was the absolute show of my heart when I was a teenager. Maybe a happy, perky vid about Mac doing his fixing thing? Or something focused on him and Pete and their friendship, or on his friends' general tendency to get him into trouble? I think for this canon I am imagining an upbeat, bouncy vid with an 80s kind of vibe (but vids for it are so rare that you can be sure I will love whatever you make!).
Adventures in Babysitting (1987) [SAFETY]
I watched this movie recently and really enjoyed it! It's held up very well since the 80s. I don't have any specific ideas for a vid I'd especially like for this movie. I think anything would be delightful, especially if it has kind of a colorful, perky 80s vibe to it.
The Secret Life of Words (2005) [SAFETY]
I absolutely love this movie, a sweet/sad/hopeful drama about a physically and emotionally scarred, partly deaf war refugee who takes a job as a nurse/caretaker for a badly burned, blinded oil derrick worker. I adore the central relationship between the characters and just generally the movie's gentle, bittersweet vibe and the interesting setting (a North Sea oil derrick). Any kind of vid for this movie would be lovely, especially something gentle and moving.
Robotech (TV)
I loved this show when I was a kid! I would love any kind of vids for it! I realize this was an Americanized show made from three unrelated anime stitched together, so you can just focus on one of those if you want, or go for something epic that encompasses all three. My favorite of the three "generations" was the third one (the Invid arc and the Scott-Rook-Rand-etc group of characters, who hit all my "plucky little band of rebels" buttons), and I was also particularly fond of Roy and Claudia in the first-gen story arc. But this doesn't mean I wouldn't enjoy receiving something focused on the other generations/characters.
