Ficathons ahoy

[livejournal.com profile] naye and I should never be allowed to write anything together ever again. Ever. :D (But ... fun! So much fun!)

A few miscellaneous pimpings:

[livejournal.com profile] sgabigbang has closed Sheppard/McKay and gen signups (90 participants! Sweet!) but signups for other pairings are happening now. So if gen or Sheppard/McKay is not your thing, go take a look! Maybe you've got a Ronon/Rodney or Rodney/Teyla or OT4 fic just waiting to be written. (What? I'm biased! There are more pairings available -- go look!)

[livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest has sign-ups available now. As someone who has long complained that I want to see more fanfic that deals with LGBT issues without being all about hooking two characters up (i.e. gen LGBT fic, if that makes any sense) I'm thrilled by this! Shortcut to page with SGA prompts because I'm trying very hard not to sign up for anything else right now, but there are some fantastic prompts and I really hope a lot of them get written!

If there are any other Gateverse ficathons currently taking signups, please feel free to post them in the comments. These are the only ones I can think of at the moment, but I'm sure more are out there.

(And [livejournal.com profile] sga_genficathon stories go live on March 31st -- I can't wait! Some good stories have been turned in already ... squee!)

Eheheheee. ♥ No. We shouldn't. XD

You noticed how the Big Bang closed three participants after us? Whee! Talk about squeaking in under the wire! (The fic was obviously meant to happen!)

Didn't know about the [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest, thanks for the link! Though, no, no more ficathons, shouldn't click on the prompts...! But. So tempting - taking a quick look couldn't hurt, right? *is weak*

I know! We just barely made it! Which means we're honor-bound not to drop out, because the fic was MEANT TO BE. (Strange though it may be!)

There are some really tempting prompts over yonder; I keep reminding myself that if I actually want to write similar stories, I could do it on my own rather than under the auspices of a ficathon, and I do not need more commitments right now!

I'm going to be out of tough April 2-7th..GRR I'll have a TON of genfics to read when I get back.

Oh is there a specific header you want us using?

There is a template in the email I sent out with the original prompts, but honestly, if you just supply a rating and summary, that's fine; I can format it from there. I just don't want to have to go through and come up with a bunch of summaries and ratings for other people's stories!

Ok..duh..will go back and re-read the e-mail. Thought I was done with mine but by second beta is wagging her finger at me about something so I got to go back and tweak :-P

I've finished mine, I'm letting it marinate it for a few weeks, and then I'll give it a final whack and send it to you.

Heh, no worries! I usually prefer waiting and doing a final edit or two before submitting my own stories for something like this, as well. So long as it gets here by the 30th, I'm happy!

What's lgbt mean?

[identity profile] parisntripfan.livejournal.com 2008-03-12 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
LGBT = Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual/Transgender.

Oh!!!! I really don't know much do I.

Yep, she beat me to it. :D No problem; I run across unfamiliar acronyms online all the time.

Well I won't learn new things unless I ask. Want to know what a Yowie is:)

Heeeee, I can't wait ta see what you guys are coming up with. [livejournal.com profile] naye's let on to the bare bones but no specifics~...

and ack! I need to get to work on my ficathon story! (have the plot mostly worked out but I'm sorta waiting for a couple details to fall into place before I sink my teeth into it ^^;)

--Also, completely unrelated to this, but regarding pregnancy in scifi, I actually thought of one show besides TNG that had a completely normal childbirth & baby. Well, okay, not normal by human standards, but by the species standards it was all kosher - you ever watch Alien Nation?

[identity profile] friendshipper.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's really an excellent example -- and a really good example of a show that did a nice job with onscreen family dynamics, even if they were alien family dynamics. I remember being bothered that they were quite so heavy-handed with the male alien pregnancy=female human pregnancy parallels (all the same symptoms, sheesh) but it *was* a normal pregnancy, for them, and that's neat! (And canon mpreg, too. XD )

LOL! That wasn't meant as a poke. :D (Though I will be sending 'round a poke this weekend, if I don't forget ... just to remind people that the deadline is fast approaching!)

[identity profile] ldyanne.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
*giggles*

No, I knew it wasn't a poke. It was more my guilty conscious talking because I *wasn't* writing. The story is a bit out of control and I have to keep working on it if I want to get it finished in time to have it betaed (or just, you know, in time).
