Coco-note!

So [livejournal.com profile] trystings is the one who sent me this -- it's a "coco-note": a coconut painted like a football, in the form of a postcard from the team to Jeannie! *loves*

Address blurred for Internet safety. The words are actually more legible than they look here -- some of them are smudged, but easy enough to read; however, the flash washed out the smudgey parts.

Rodney's "infested with whales" line really cracks me up ... that's just so him. And they sent Sheppard for postcards and he came back with this ... *heeeeee*!

Thank you again, [livejournal.com profile] trystings! It's adorable!

[identity profile] parisntripfan.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for sharing that with us.

And I agree with Rodney that there is something just wrong with Ronon saying "Dudes..."

Dudes! Yeah, that would be pretty scary. :D

Oh SO CUTE! ♥ I love it! It's so totally them, and the image of them relaxing and having fun on the beach - and inviting Jeannie, awww. Also, "infested with whales"? Perfect!

[identity profile] friendshipper.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't it adorable? "Infested with whales" just *slayed* me. XD And yes, such a cute mental picture! Oh, I do *so* want a road trip episode.

[personal profile] naye 2008-02-20 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
We need to start a petition! For the road trip episode - we know Martin G wants to write one, so... oh, please let this be the season where the other writers go along with the idea! (Though as [livejournal.com profile] xparrot said - considering what happened last time he got to write a 'day in the life' sort of episode, let's include a caveat about everyone coming back alive from the road trip!)

Road trip, body swap and Groundhog Day. I think those are probably the plots I'm the most eager to see on SGA. Oh, the potential...!
ext_1981: (BH-Mitchell smile)

[identity profile] friendshipper.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, YES to all of these! Although Groundhog Day has been done in SG-1 already (and maybe bodyswap as well?) which makes it less likely that we'll ever get to see it.

(I *wish* they'd mine SG-1 for plot ideas, though! I have a list a mile long of SG-1 plots I'd love to see on Atlantis. Abyss? Empty Bottle? Solitudes? Oh please!)

But everyone HAS to come back alive from the road trip, definitely!
naye: A cartoon of a woman with red hair and glasses in front of a progressive pride flag. (atlantis - john pointing)

[personal profile] naye 2008-02-20 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
But, but, but...! But they haven't done all that on Atlantis! I mean. Every sci-fi show does Groundhog Day and bodyswap sooner or later...! It wouldn't be ripping off SG-1, it would be tradition. And I haven't even seen the SG-1 Groundhog Day, though [livejournal.com profile] xparrot tells me it's brilliant.

Plus - they are both plots that can be tweaked in so many ways that it totally wouldn't be a rip-off, and don't we just need to have a full-team bodyswap? The actors would have a blast doing it, the writers would have a blast writing it, and we would have a blast watching it! Everybody wins! (Though I still haven't decide which way I'd most like the swap to go. Ronon and Rodney getting swapped would be brilliant just because it would mean Jason Momoa would have to try delivering lines at David Hewlett's speed, and David Hewlett would have to be still, and it would be all kinds of beautiful and hilarious. But getting Rodney and John swapped... oh.)

Abyss is... err. OH! Oh, yes. Now I remember. *griiiin* Yes, please. And Empty Bottle is. Um. ...does it have O'Neill nailed to a wall, or am I getting my episodes mixed up? Solitudes doesn't sound familiar at all, but knowing the kind of beautiful h/c and teamy stuff that came out of SG-1, I'm sure I wouldn't mind seeing it on Atlantis!

Not even Martin Gero would have the heart to make a road trip end in angst! ...right?
ext_1981: (BH-Mitchell smile)

[identity profile] friendshipper.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Empty Bottle nailed O'Neill to a wall (there was actually a really fun SGA fanfic that used the same idea on Rodney, but it's not the same as seeing it in canon!) and Solitudes has Carter and a badly injured O'Neill trapped in an ice cave, trying not to freeze to death. SG-1 actually had a really *astonishing* amount of h/c, now that I think about it. Or at least h/c-ish scenarios. Though SGA has certainly been giving them a run for their money lately ...

And, oh, I'm just dying now for love of the bodyswap idea. Just imagining the actors trying to play the others' roles -- in any combination, really -- is killing me! I want, I want ...

Only three more episodes 'til the end of the season, eek! And me still unspoilered for next season, yay! Incidentally, I am told that the preview for next week's episode is horribly spoilery for the episode; I haven't watched it, but I figured I'd warn you in case it's not too late.

EDIT: Ha, me and my dumb brain! "Empty Bottle" was the SGA fanfic based on the episode. "Message in a Bottle" was the original. *headdesk*
naye: A cartoon of a woman with red hair and glasses in front of a progressive pride flag. (atlantis - ronon smile)

[personal profile] naye 2008-02-21 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Brad Wright and Rob Cooper both deliver beautiful h/c - they seem to love it a whole lot themselves! And they both do lovely, emotional team stuff too... So using their plot ideas on Atlantis could never be a bad thing! Really. It's not like there can be too much h/c, right? *g*

The bodyswap idea is one of those things where fic can't really scratch the itch to see it done, because a whole lot of the fun would come out of actually seeing the actors dealing with the situation! I've seen David Hewlett do hos Joe F impersonation, and it is hysterical. Then trying to imagine any of the others doing David-as-Rodney, including the fifty thousand mile a minute exposition and technobabble and snarking and handwaving and now I'm making myself whimper a little because I want it so much.

Thanks for the heads up about the preview! I'm still unspoilered for next season and most of the next three eps, so - yay! Will stay away from the previews and MGM's site and other evil places... (I-I might take the spoiler-avoidance a bit too far, seeing as how I downloaded a site-blocker for Firefox and used it to block Gateworld and a couple of other places, just to make sure I don't trip and fall over a link heading over there... XD Oh, and Joe M's blog? Is BLOCKED. I still want to slap myself for clicking on the shiny pictures he posted a few weeks back. Siigh.)

(Hey, I've read the fic, I know, and they're close enough that I figured it out, so... your swapping of the episode and fic titles still made sense to my brain?)
ext_1981: (Whaleverse-Rodney working)

[identity profile] friendshipper.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Wright and Cooper are total fangirls. XD So are Gero and Binder, I think! So much fun ...

I haven't actually gone so far as to block the sites, but that's not a bad idea! So far, I'm just being careful and trying to be strong. (Since I have all the backbone of a jellyfish sometimes, I suspect that as soon as the finale airs and I get done with the inevitable squee and meta about that, I'm going to be off to Gateworld, though...)

I'm making myself whimper a little because I want it so much.

*whimpers with you* I've seen DavidH doing his JoeF impression too -- it's SO CUTE! (And it's kind of scary how closely he can emulate JoeF's speech mannerisms. Those are two guys who spend a little too much time together! :D ) The idea of a whole episode of ALL of them doing it ... eeep! You know, they're setting up their plots for season five right now! How much effect do you think an organized campaign of fangirl whining on Mallozzi's blog would have? :D
naye: A cartoon of a woman with red hair and glasses in front of a progressive pride flag. (atlantis - wheeee)

[personal profile] naye 2008-02-21 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
They are! XD Gero and Binder and - where did Damien Kindler vanish to? Because I love all the writers, but I do miss Damien Kindler. Just a little, sometimes.

I haven't actually gone so far as to block the sites, but that's not a bad idea!

It's nice for the avoiding accidental spoilers - it also helps me know which links on, say, the SGA newsletter, leads to those sites. Even if the article they're linking to isn't spoilery in itself, sometimes all it takes is one look at the sidebar...

So far, I'm just being careful and trying to be strong. (Since I have all the backbone of a jellyfish sometimes, I suspect that as soon as the finale airs and I get done with the inevitable squee and meta about that, I'm going to be off to Gateworld, though...)

Eheheee. Yes. Err. It totally depends on when the show comes back! If it's going on hiatus until the fall, you BET I'm going to read up on enough to have something to talk about with the rest of fandom, at least. But if it gets the early summer premier? Mmm. Well, then I might be tempted to at least try to stay unspoiled until it comes back. Which might easily prove impossible. But. Willpower! I can do it! Maybe. A little. For a while.

*whimpers with you* I've seen DavidH doing his JoeF impression too -- it's SO CUTE! (And it's kind of scary how closely he can emulate JoeF's speech mannerisms. Those are two guys who spend a little too much time together! :D ) The idea of a whole episode of ALL of them doing it ... eeep!

I KNOW. This is why there is whimpering! It's because they're actually that good and know each other so well, and wouldn't it be hilarious to see all of their best impersonations of all their colleagues? I really, really can't decide which direction the swap should go - the more, the merrier! (Hey, Amanda Tapping should totally join in on the fun! I bet she does a mean David Hewlett. XD)

You know, they're setting up their plots for season five right now! How much effect do you think an organized campaign of fangirl whining on Mallozzi's blog would have? :D

You know... I'm almost tempted! XDD That's how badly I want to see it. But then I think about all the legal rigmarole and leaving story ideas you want to see where a writer can see them is probably not a good idea... but! But, but, but! Want! (And doesn't he approve all comments? So he could delete all the petition-posts! There'd be no proof...!)

[identity profile] xparrot.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
Eeeeee Amanda Tapping doing Rodney!! They should totally do a FarScape-style multi-swap, Carter in JF, Rodney in AT, John in DH...though I do want to see Jason Momoa trying to do Rodney. Actually I want to see everyone doing Rodney! (...um that sounds kind of...well, you know what I mean!)

On the other hand, DH trying to spin a gun Ronon-style XDDD

The Farscape episode was the best bodyswap I've seen EVER. And that's even counting SG-1's which was quite brilliant. ♥

Actually I want to see everyone doing Rodney! (...um that sounds kind of...well, you know what I mean!)

Yes, I do, but I still snickered. XD

On the other hand, DH trying to spin a gun Ronon-style XDDD

They need to decide they're doing it for S5, so that he knows, and can start practicing NOW!

Wow! That's great, isn't it?! A great idea and the comments are just spot on - also loved the whale comment from Rodney - and that Sheppard bought this instead of a postcard!!

Nice that Rodney paid for Jeannie and family to join them (that bit's eerily like a fic idea I had but then discarded, I even had the team on Hawaii in the original idea...!!!)

Oh noes, I've been poked by friendshipper...better get thinking about writing it, then!! *grins*

No promises, my writing is a bit hit and miss at the moment, but I'll put it in the 'to do' list and see what happens. (You'll be glad to know I've managed to finish the rough draft of my ficathon story today, *just* the editing and then beta'ing to go...)

[identity profile] trystings.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
*pokes you too!* Team fluff for the win.

I saw the coco-note in the store window (Post a "coco-note"!) and all I could think was, omigod, Sheppard would SO buy this. Rodney will ask him to get a couple of postcards and Sheppard will come back with this and Rodney will huff and complain loudly, but secretly finds it funny as hell and sends it to his sister.

The concept is hilarious. An artist on Maui makes them, and this one painted as a football was too perfect to pass up.

Ow! That's twice I've been poked!! Okay, okay, stop poking me! I'll try and write something, I will!!

Permission to use the coco-note idea (with a link to this post)? Just the coco-note idea, not the rest. Well, probably not the rest ... hmm, permission to use it all if the muse takes me in that direction??! With appropriate blame acknowledgment, of course!

Thanks. I think I'll use the idea of John coming back with a coco-note, and the line about the infestation of whales (and of course that Rodney has paid for Jeannie and co to join, an idea I'd had too!!). Gonna set it before Missing 'cos I want Teyla surfboarding without any worries or whatever... Though then again, could be fun for the boys to panic if she sets foot on a board... Hmm, better do a little bit of homework on Hawaii as well...

Then *all* I have to do is write the darned thing!!!

(And just what am I doing up at gone 3am in the UK? Couldn't sleep and decided to cehck my emails as a way to tire myself out...hope it works. Back to bed now...!)
