I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS bar SHOW.

MY SHOW IS BACK AND IT'S SO GREAT. ♥ ♥ ♥

EVERYONE IS A HOT MESS AND I LOVE IT.

I don't mind ... you know ... talking about thoughtful thoughts you might have, but if you really hated it, I'd really rather not talk about that? Because I loved it and I am absolutely delighted to see where this season goes.

(And while I really am happy with wherever the show goes ship-wise, I gotta say that the way things are going so far, I really don't think the Daniel/Peggy shippers are going to be sad. I would be FINE if they ended up with other people! But the first two episodes are about as Peggy/Daniel-shippy as they could possibly be considering they're both seeing other people right now, and I am also quite happily on the SS PeggySous, SO THAT IS ALSO EXCELLENT. But also I love that Peggy and Violet get along, and that Violet is very nice, and Wilkes* is nice, and NOW I'M BACK TO I JUST LOVE EVERYONE.)

*Wilkes is totally not [spoiler], I am just going on record here.

I am definitely expecting Peggy/Sousa to be endgame, for admittedly Doylist reasons. They have the most narrative weight behind them. Then again, I have been wrong before about these things. (Got one Once Upon a Time endgame pairing incredibly wrong.) That said, I am happily shipping both Peggy/Sousa and Peggy/Wilkes. (Who is totally not dead.) I am a little nervous about how Violet will be treated going forward, but at least I feel secure that the show won't do anything truly awful to her, like tear her down to make Peggy look good in comparison.

It actually surprised me, though! The handful of spoilers I did already have about this season included Daniel having a girlfriend and Peggy having a new love interest, so I really, 100% thought the show was going in a different direction. Which I would've been okay with -- would still be okay with, in fact -- and therefore the very obvious continuing interest on both their parts was a (pleasant) shock. I am hoping things don't go down terribly with Violet, but so far the show seems to be handling her well; I liked that she seems very sweet and isn't jealous of Peggy. (Also, "character dates/falls in love with the wrong person before they get together with the right person" is a narrative trope I really love, as long as it's handled well, so I'm now hoping the show will hit those notes for me.)

That said, I really hope the show doesn't devote too much narrative space to the love triangle, which could get really boring/frustrating really quick. Am currently expecting Wilkes to come back with superpowers and idly speculating on whether he is anybody from the Marvel 'verse or a character completely original to the show.

On a side note, it's also not too hard to mentally insert scenes of Peggy calling Angie every day to catch her up on everything going down in LA. Pretty sure they couldn't get Lyndsey Fonseca because of scheduling conflicts, but it also doesn't seem like she's been written out of Peggy's life or anything.

I said in musesfool's journal that I was utterly terrified they were going the jealousy route with Anna Jarvis--first when she found Peggy straddling Edwin and then later with the SOS call. And then they didn't and I rejoiced. I rejoiced SO HARD. Because there is nothing I hate more than the "she's going to steal my man" shit--as someone whose best friends have always been men, it's been horrifically hard to sometimes maintain those relationships and there have been some just serious devastation emotionally when that's happened, because women are socialized to believe that they have to do anything to hang on to a man. But Anna's totally cool, and I loved her instantly. She knows women and men can be friends and not have it be sexual. She is the best.

My only quibble is that the upcoming shots looked mighty white, but I'm hoping that it will turn out to be different. Everything else was great, especially Wilkes addressing what it was like for him to find work, and that bond he and Peggy share over their respective hurdles.

Yessss, I'm SO glad they aren't doing jealousy with Anna, or for that matter, having Violet and Peggy played against each other. I've run into that problem with guy friends also, and I'm really glad to have the show not do that. (Okay, Violet probably does have legitimate reason to have concerns about Peggy, but I'm still really glad that it's not playing out in a catty kind of way, at least not so far.)

I haven't been looking at previews and promo stuff, but it's possible they're avoiding including Wilkes to maintain suspense about his upcoming role in the show, perhaps? I really don't think he would be in only two episodes.

I mostly meant that in the "coming up on Agent Carter" stuff at the end of the episode I searched and searched for one Latino face, or Asian face, or another African-American face, and didn't see a one. I know how much Hayley's been battling for more diversity, and they seem to have understood a need for more women interacting with her on a regular basis instead of just tiny shots or one person, but…I do hope there will be more than just white guys being terrible. I feel very strongly Wilkes will be back--man, I sure hope so, because that would be way too Dead Bro Walking.

I just…I love this show so much, I don't want to see them making the same mistakes Marvel makes every fucking time. ::grimaces::

And wow, I love Violet. I just feel like she's either going to be pushed aside, because god knows TV can't help it with the love triangles, or possibly she's a Black Widow! Who knows, but I'm worried! I feel bad that Daniel is still hung up on Peggy, because wow, I've been there, but I just want her around more. That scene where they were telling that story and laughing together at the front desk was delightful--oh look, women can laugh and talk together! They can enjoy each other's company!

Ahhhh yes, I get what you're saying here -- and, yes, I would really like them to do better. On the other hand, as was pointed out in the LJ comments, it does seem like they listen to criticism and take it on board, and they are improving! Slowly! But yeah, I don't know why Marvel has so much trouble with this. It shouldn't be that hard.

OH GOD I hadn't even thought that Violet might be a Black Widow, or some other form of agent trying to cozy up to the West Coast SSR. aaaaauuugghhh.

The one thing I'm pretty sure they won't do is kill her; I think the show is genre-savvy enough not to do that. Hopefully.
