My first thought was, "But that describes everything I write" ... and then I realized, no, I actually say no to myself all the time on the more over-the-top h/c. Which means this might be a good opportunity to just give in and write stuff I wouldn't normally.

(I'm sure everyone would be terribly put out if I write 5000 words of hideously self-indulgent h/c. That does not sound like something you guys would like at all. XD)

Actually, it looks like it's for 5k and less stories? Which makes it more doable on my part.

Yeah, I wish the minimum was shorter; it would be accessible to more people. On the other hand, the promptfest will be a total free-for-all with no requirements or word limits, so that one might be a lot easier to play in.

Yeah, but, I mean, not to be a downer, but that's just another promptfest. It's the concept of the main challenge itself I find tantalizing.

Oh yeah, I don't disagree - and I'm really on the fence myself, where I wouldn't be so torn about a fest with a shorter word limit.

Well, it IS supposed to be idfic, which doesn't really imply meticulous plotting. If they didn't want a disorganized mess of iddy flailings, they should have been more specific. XD

(Still haven't signed up, mostly because I can't figure out which of my various "I will never write this because it is too embarrassing" fic scenarios is most appealing while not ensuring that no one will ever read my fic again.)
