Several years back, there was a meme going around about "bulletproof character kinks," the character types you will always like. I kept trying to do it, before realizing that while I have patterns, any time I try to say, "Okay I always like X," I'll find an exception. Likewise, if I say "I never like Y," I'll immediately think of a Y that I like. It really does vary.
