Yeah, I think that's what made it jump out at me -- there is hardly a relaxed social scene in the entire series that doesn't involve at least one character with a glass of wine, and I found it really interesting that Sam is always drinking water. I'm not sure if it's something that is actually going to be brought up at some point (the obvious conclusion is that he used to be an alcoholic -- that would be an interesting thing for Neal to find out about his family tree!) or if it's a minor character detail that the actor or writers slipped in there, or ... I just don't know! And I know what you mean about not being sure what's intentional and what isn't.
