Since I have no new SGA for months (WAH) ...
... I guess I'll post about Lost instead!
Someone in the Television Without Pity forums had the most hilarious summary of tonight's episode (and almost completely non-spoilerish, too):
Michael's a dick
Jack's a moron
Sayid is the man
The hobbit is awesome
and Sawyer is a human being.
*grin*
I agree with everything except the part about the hobbit. I still want to drop-kick Charlie off the island as quickly as possible. One moment of strength does not make up for being a complete dickhead 90% of the time.
Meanwhile, just when I thought this show was NEVER going to offer my poor l'il friendship-junkie heart a nice Sawyer cookie ... we got that scene with Sawyer and Jack. "You're the closest thing I've got to a friend" ... DAMN! Of course, my first (and second, and third) thoughts were EEEE! ... but once I got over the squee-ness of it, I couldn't help wondering ... er ... Sawyer, what about Kate, you dipstick? You know, the only person on the island who's been willing to speak to you for most of this season? Are friendship and romance mutually exclusive? *sigh* Also, I suppose that the "closest thing to a friend" when all the competition thoroughly hates your guts makes it ... not so much of a competition after all. But it was still sweet.
And what makes this extra cool is that I'm even more interested in Sawyer and Jack's nascent friendship this season than last season, despite the near-total lack of Jack/Sawyer moments on this go-around, because I've actually started liking Jack. Quite a lot, in fact. I think a lot of my aversion to him the first season was because he was just so damn good at everything. He suffered from the worst case of Main Character Syndrome ever. Now that Jack screws up on a regular basis, and now that he really *isn't* the main character anymore (or, at least, he doesn't get any more screentime than a lot of the other castaways) I'm enjoying his angst.
And, Jack's last name is Shepherd. SGA moment! *heeheehee* I can't remember if tonight is the first time they've ever actually stated his full name, or if it was mentioned in a previous episode, but it still made me grin.
EDIT: Oh, and while it was nice to see doggy Vincent again, who in the world has been taking care of him for the past season? Of his three primary caregivers, one's been kidnapped, one's dead, and one's spent most of the season kidnapped/vanished/hiding in the hatch/obsessed/evil. I kinda like the idea that Vincent has become the "village mutt" who just takes turns getting handouts from various people, but it would be nice to *see* it rather than just have him show up looking inexplicably well-fed when the last surviving person who is supposed to feed him vanished months ago.
