I think I made it all the way to White Night before giving up. Harry had been very promisingly faced with things that looked like they were going to change his obnoxiously sexist and shortsighted attitude; and then those things happened and I waited for the lesson to sink in; and then he ran off to play Big Fat Hero the minute a damsel looked distressed, again, and the only thing that changed was that I had to read about him berating himself for it in addition to the berating I was doing in my head. *makes face* At that point I decided he could take his sexism and his phallic symbol magic stick and live without me. Not even Thomas could induce me to stay.

Especially once it became clear he wasn't ever going to get involved with Murphy, who was the most awesome woman ever and whose attachment to him would have resulted in my getting to read even more of her being awesome.

I'll believe you that it gets better on the sexism front, but it was the in-character sexism that got to me more than the meta-level sexism, and eight books convinced me that wasn't going to change. *sadface*
