The more I think about my last White Collar post, the more I think that it really ended up being a lot more ... intemperate, I guess, than I really meant it to be. Parts of it should probably have been cut out and ended up in a locked venting post, not a public post. And I'm sorry if my complaints about certain tropes in the fandom upset anyone, or made any of you feel like I was putting down the fic that you write or enjoy. You're just as entitled to what you like as I am to my own favorite tropes -- which goes without saying, I know, but I'm sorry if I implied otherwise.

Mea culpa.

Why should you apologize for having an opinion? You shouldn't. If people were offended, well...that's too bad. It's like people being offended if you don't like a certain character: it is not necessary to agree on everything. :D :D :D

Well, no one seemed to get upset or anything! But I really do think I should've separated out the editorializing about fandom from the squee about the new season -- less chance of hurt feelings and such, that way.

It's not the having opinions that I'm apologizing for; it's the way I expressed them. I'm not at all apologetic about my opinions. :D But I do feel that the way I put them across in that case wasn't the best.

On the other hand, it led to a fun and productive discussion, I think, and helped me get a better handle on why some of those tropes bother me.
