Methos is such a fascinating character to me, precisely because of what you're saying here -- he's not the best swordsman, he's the oldest living immortal because he's sneaky, not because he's Just That Good. I love that, SO MUCH. I think he's probably as ruthless in his own way as any villain, just he uses his powers for good. :)
