New website URL
Tonight I finally did something that I've been meaning to do for a while: got my fanfic on its own domain. :D The new URL is:
http://www.sholiofic.com/sga/
This may or may not work for you yet, depending on whether the domain name has propagated to your local DNS servers yet. (In case it's not working yet, it should be up within a day or two.) Right now, I have the main page redirecting automatically, but I'm still figuring out if it's possible to redirect the individual pages automatically (I think you can do that, but my tests don't seem to be working, so I'm still trying to figure out what's up with that). My main objective here is to get my fanfic disconnected from my real name a little more than is currently the case. However, I don't want to break all the existing links, and I know that my fic is linked in a bunch of places (as well as having a lot of images that are hosted on the friendshipper subdomain as well).
In any case, right now both pages have the exact same information with the exact same names for the pages, except that they start with www.sholiofic.com/sga/ instead of the friendshipper blah blah. In the future I'll be redirecting all traffic to the new site, automatically if possible but manually for the individual pages if it turns out I have to do it that way. The permanent URLs for fic will be at the new www.sholiofic.com/sga/ address.

a) you see any text on the page at all that's red or pink (there should be some at the top), and
b) if the fonts appear as different sizes and shades of gray (this should be instantly evident when you look at the first page, if it's working).
Also, what browser are you using?

I was using IE6, and there, nothing, no css at all.
I tried Firefox & Chrome, and both of them show up okay (with images!). Interesting.
Anyway, lovely picture at the top :) The four of them together, over the gate -- perfect!

Thank you so much for dividing up the fic by length and noting the word count. This makes it so much easier to decide what to read in the time allowed.

http://webdesign.about.com/od/beginningcss/f/css_import_link.htm
"hides the style sheet from Netscape 4, IE 6 and below
@import url(../style.css) screen;"
Also see #5 on this page, sounds similar:

It's okay, the text is readable and that's what's important. ;-)
If you do want to trouble shoot this together, I'm up for that.

Thank you! That would be awesome ... although first I think I need to do some more reading on css. What's frustrating is that I can't duplicate it on my own computer - I have IE5 (Mac) and while things don't display perfectly (it doesn't get all the font formatting) it's got the images and overall page style. And my css page is incredibly basic; I can't imagine what I've done to make it fail to work! *pokes*
I'll shoot you a comment once I find something to try. :/

Try including this:
[LINK href="css/main.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"]
I tried it locally and adding rel="stylesheet" makes a difference. :)

*high-fives*
I think you can put the import back as it has no effect on IE6 at all (ie6 doesn't recognize it) and it will work for newer browsers!

I put the @import back in - could you check it and make sure that didn't change anything?
Thank you so much for helping me troubleshoot this!

You're welcome; pretty picture is pretty!
