... hee!

Digging through my hard drive, I came upon a couple of pages from the old (1980s) X-Men comics -- the big collected TPBs -- that I had scanned and relettered back in *checks datestamp* 2003. It was just to amuse myself and my sister, mostly; I think I had them up at one of my old versions of my website for a little while before cleaning up my server space and (I'd thought) throwing them away.

Anyway, for your entertainment, I present Exhibit A that Xavier/Magneto is actually canon -- even back in 1981! XD

The relettered version:

And the original pages for comparison:

... yes, Xavier is naked. In Magneto's head. Does he always perform psychic combat in the nude? I don't think so, because I'm pretty sure we've seen him project himself fully clothed plenty of times. And then Magneto kidnaps him and sweeps him away to his HQ, chair and all ... GIVE ME ANOTHER EXPLANATION FOR THIS SCENE, I DARE YOU.

And, also from the same batch of scans ... dude, this is just not right!

Better wash your hands after using the doorknobs at the X-mansion. I'm just sayin' ...

Bwahhah, I've got that actual comic. And back then I read it in complete blissful innocence -- who knew.

AHAHAHAHAHAH.

Oh, comics! (I especially love remix!Xavier's "is this a dream or a nightmare?" Oh, Charles, if you have to ask...)

Why are they b&w? is that because the collections were low-cost, or were they actually printing b&w comics in the '80s?

I wonder if we've got that issue around here? I don't recognize the scenes, and I think I would at least recognize that last frame, because that one doesn't need any relettering. I haven't read all the collections we own, though.

You are brilliant.

Yup. I don't have a local comic store...and after an identity theft scare I don't buy anything over the internet. So reprint trades are the only way I can read the old comics.

You're very wicked. You've just ruined my innocent little memories of The X-Men comics! :D
