I have to go to bed and will respond to this tomorrow. This is not an argument...lol. And you raise some great points and I have a few of my own. But this is not me being snarky, promise.

if they rotated among the cast and gave large amounts of screen time and character development to everyone over the course of a season

Please point out to be the shows that have an ensemble cast that does this. That don't give one or two token eppys to each character who are not the two main leads. That fairly rotates things around. Because I think that would be neat to see done right.
