I can't believe I stopped reading MoS where I did, because it was right in the middle of Benjamin's, er, relapse! MoS is awesome -- there are VERY few webcomics (or, for that matter, comics in general) that qualify as good, serious SF, on a par with anything that's published in book form; I agree about the art, but the writing more than made up for it. (Along those lines -- SF comics -- have you ever read the manga Planetes? It's fantastic -- sort of like if Arthur C. Clarke did manga, and the art's fantastic too.)
