OMG OMG OMG!
Brand new Dead Like Me movie!
George! Mason! Roxy! Reggie! Eeeeeeeeeeee!
Trailer on Youtube here.
I think it's probable that I would have ended up fanning much more deeply on DLM than I did if I hadn't gotten into SGA so quickly -- I was interested in SGA anyway, but I kinda started watching it because I needed something to cheer me up after watching the two (very short) seasons of Dead Like Me on DVD and then realizing that there wouldn't be any more. It's definitely one of those shows that deserved a much longer run than it got.
Seeing the characters again on the movie trailer put a smile on my face.

I find it interesting and obnoxious the shows a channel will decide to drop, and the shows they decide to keep around. For example, shows like Firefly, Dark Angel and Jericho that had quite a following are cancelled, while shows like Ghost Whisperer just keep on going. Nothing against Ghost Whisperer as it's a good family drama. However, I feel it neither has the best acting nor the best stories (very generic storylines, in my opinion. I, personally, can't stand the show).
And 24 people had to kick butt and take names to keep around. Supposedly a number one show on Fox, and the network kept trying to drop it.
I think they should make movies out of all the cancelled shows that had gathered a cult following. I loved Serenity (sad as it was). I think it would be awesome to see shows like Dark Angel or Tru Calling, for example, made into movies.

It's an absolute mystery to me what makes some shows a "hit" and others not. It's partly ratings, and partly that some shows just strike a chord with the audience, but there's more to it than that ... Firefly, for example, never had a chance; Fox moved it around, rearranged the airing order of the episodes, and never gave it time to pick up an audience. It's almost like they didn't want to give the show a chance. And from the sound of things, Dead Like Me was cancelled despite good ratings and critical acclaim. I just have no idea.
It does seem like more cancelled shows are being given a chance as movies, miniseries, direct-to-DVD productions ... Farscape, Stargate, Firefly, and now Dead Like Me have all gotten that treatment. It took, what, 15 years for Star Trek to be resurrected in the form of its first movie, but it got resurrected in a major way.
