Just a bit of community pimpage
You know, with less than two weeks until the season premiere of SGA(!!!), what say we lead into that with some fic or vid recs over at
stargategenrec? I'm falling way behind on reccing things, what with spending most of this month traveling, but there have been lots of good gen stories coming out lately, and I know there are a lot of gen readers out there, so ... after you read a good fic, want to take a minute to duck over there and rec it? The reccing format is very simple (you can look at other recs to see how people do it); you can rec old or new stuff, SGA or SG-1; you can use the tags to find out if something has already been rec'd, although don't stress about that TOO much because personally, I think it'd be better for something to get rec'd twice than not at all!
I'm not sure if people hold back on reccing stories because they want to wait for something to come along that really knocks their socks off, but honestly, you don't have to LOVE a story to rec it at
stargategenrec, you just have to like it. I've rec'd stories that had aspects to them that I wasn't 100% on board with, but I felt that they were worthwhile stories that others might enjoy. I think that right now, I'm probably doing about 80% of the recs over there (at least) and I'd really love to see more people rec things, because that way a wider cross-section of gen fic would be represented -- with me reccing, obviously it's going to be fairly limited just to things that I like.

Now, there's one thing I'm unclear of as I look through the community site, when rec'ing a story, I see there are these neat little links that, once they are clicked on, take you back to the story begin rec'd.
That's where I have problems. What coding do I put in to make the title show and make it clickable to get the interested party back to the story I want them to go to?
LOL.. clear as mud, eh?
Anyway, I can copy the outlinet for the rec'd story info but I just haven't figured out how to get that coding for LJ.
Any thoughts or suggestions how I can make this work? I'm just a little computer iliterate, especially as it refers to LJ.

But if you want to make the title clickable, and you use the plain text LJ editor (the default), then type the following (you must replace my square brackets [] with pointy brackets <> to get it to work):
Title: [a href="URL OF STORY"]Name of story[/a]
Replace the square brackets with pointy brackets, and put in the correct URL and title, and you should be good to go!
