Making guesses about Dresden Files
I'm on Chapter 10 of Ghost Story right now (DON'T SPOIL ME PLZ) and I have a sudden guess about where all of this might be going. I could be totally wrong! But it's such a cool idea that I had to commit it to blog.
So far, we've had it explained that shades are not actually the person that they're impersonating, but energy ghosts left behind by strong emotions (more or less). Harry insists that he's different, but then I got to the part where Murphy is insisting to Mort that Harry is still alive because they never found a body, and the thought occurred to me ...
What if she's right and Harry is wrong?
What if he really is alive? What if Harry's not dead, but taken out of play in some way, and the "Harry" in whose head we are right now, the Harry we're following through this book, is actually a sort of energy signature of the real Harry? What if the big twist in this book isn't the old standby "... he's really dead!" but "... he's really alive, and this isn't him?"
That would be an AWESOME mindfuck.
Okay, back to the book now. :D
