Not according to plan

You know, the whole reason why I started re-reading the Dresden Files books in October, as opposed to one of the many other books on my shelf, was because I didn't want to distract my brain from NaNo by getting a whole new set of characters in there.

I do not think it is working as intended, as evidence by the past couple weeks of posts to my journal. Not to mention that I just wrote 1200 words on a missing scene for White Night.

Oops.

Goodness, yes. Never read Dresden Files while working on an original story. I did that and got all depressed because I kept comparing my story to Dresden Files and in turn felt my story sucked eggs.

Nice to know it's not just me. :D It's not quite that bad (yet?), but it's not really doing wonders for my productivity or my ability to concentrate on my NaNo lately. Plus it's making me want to write team-oriented urban fantasy, which is ... totally not what my novel is. XD
