I have been awfully remiss in posting this, but

sga_genficathon is live! There will be about 50 stories posted over the next two weeks ('til May 14). From what I've seen of the stories, there is a fantastic variety of character, theme and subject matter (the stories that are posted so far include everything from a fast-paced team caper story to one about Alicia Vega grappling with DADT in the Mensaverse). shati (Good Omens, gen, G-ish, Aziraphale with a bit of Crowley) - I haven't read Good Omens fic in forever, but I read this and was reminded all over again why I love the characters so much. Oh, Aziraphale ... dorkiest angel ever.

Modern Love by

penknife (Discworld, PG-13, mostly OCs and various OC pairings more hinted at than seen) - okay, so this has been read and rec'd everywhere by now, but I loved this story so much. Written for

lgbtfest, it's a brilliant look at the complexities of dwarf sexuality and how Ankh-Morpork's different social mores are affecting them -- which probably sounds awfully dry, but it's really not; the author's got a great feel for Pratchett's narrative voice and this seriously reads like something that could be slotted into one of the books. I loved the OCs too.

soooo many stories to read in the fic-a-thon. Since you did got a lot, why not expand the posting weeks instead of just two?

Because of the number of late stories, and the fact that I drew up the schedule based on the number of stories that were turned in on time. I originally planned for three weeks, reduced it to two because we had only about half the stories just a few days prior to deadline. *shrugs* It's totally awesome that we got most of the stories by the posting date, which is totally *not* what happened last year. I didn't want to count on stories that I did not get.

But, yes! Many stories! It is very awesome. :D

Congratulations. Now that I've succeeded in writing my first fic, I might aim for this next year. It certainly wouldn't have happened with school going on at the same time. I nearly fried my brain with all the things I was trying to get finished the other week :P

Oh phooey! I'm just a whiner. I wasn't expecting it to be so difficult to post to LiveJournal, so I had a wee bit of a meltdown on Friday (and Saturday!). I miss the old days of regular old websites! I'm too old for this new-fangled (read: seriously buggy) technology!

I don't think you were whining! You did fine -- and, heh, for whatever it's worth, I had as much trouble with the rich text LJ window as you were apparently having with the HTML ... when I opened up your posts to edit them, there was a lot of "AAAARGH! STUPID RICH TEXT WINDOW! WHAT IS IT DOING! WHY DID IT DO THAT!" on my end of the keyboard (I generally ended up switching over to HTML, though it was a giant block of text without line breaks).

For me last year, I had a devil of a time with people's Word files (since I don't have Word) and the plain text files were the only ones that worked for me reliably ... maybe next year I'll find a good way to offer more formatting flexibility without getting a total format free-for-all.
