I definitely don't think Murderbot did anything wrong or should've done anything different! I can see why the humans reacted the way they did (especially since they're totally unused to IRL violence) but everything it did was perfectly rational given the situation.

The contrast with Sanctuary Moon in every way is such a good choice! It's really impressive how they get across the sense of Sanctuary Moon as the sanitized, hyper-colorful, unrealistic space fantasy at the same time that we're also watching the characters on a (to an extent) sanitized and unrealistic space fantasy, but the tone difference is really well conveyed.

Re: tone of the show - one thing I saw someone on Tumblr talking about is that the books are very heavily filtered through Murderbot's POV, and Murderbot takes the violence completely for granted, so the events are going to come across differently when we're seeing them in a more-or-less objective way. Some of the difference is simply down to different creative decisions, obviously - pretty sure no one got their head gorily blown off in the book this is based on - but it's also a very interesting choice, if intentional!
