Scrubs was one of those rare shows that would have me happy and laughing and loving it and then suddenly take this twist and I'd find myself sitting there watching it and bawling.

I know! I'm only eight episodes in, and it's already happened once -- I was just going along la la la with the funny and cute, and then all of a sudden OMG WTF I'M TRYING NOT TO CRY. And they do it well -- it's not like a sudden left turn from sitcom into "very special episode" territory. The funny and touching and sad is all woven together very effectively.
