If you're gonna do it, I do recommend autumn! It is jaw-droppingly gorgeous, and the days are still pretty warm. (The best time for colors is probably somewhere between Sept. 1 and Sept. 15 for the Denali/Fairbanks area, mid to late September around Anchorage and the southcentral area.)
