I loved Death Gate! (And this icon is from one of the covers; it's the only Weis & Hickman one I had.) I think Zifnab's appearance in Death Gate was probably the point at which I recognized what they were doing and that they typically do it in every book .... although I don't remember it in Rose of the Prophet, now that I think about it. There might be a character who is soooort of like that but not in the way they typically do, though maybe I'm just forgetting. (I really should reread that one too.)
Elven Star is definitely the most forgettable book in that series, lolol. It makes more sense thematically in retrospect, because it does shed light on the elf-human-dwarf interactions and their differences between the various worlds, but it's really just a lot of soap opera with not very likable characters that doesn't do much to advance the series-arc plot.

In conclusion, HAPLO!!
