This book has so many Biggles tropes, it's amazing. I'm not sure if Francis was actually influenced by Johns in some way or if it's just that if you're writing a book about a pilot, some things simply have to be there. :D Aspects of the plot also map over beautifully to Biggles fic, I'm already considering several options ...
