It's a fascinating look into computer tech that's extremely different from what we have now! (I just missed personally experiencing the era he's talking about; my early experiences with computers were with the early command line disk drive ones ...) But in general, I love that sort of groundedness that his books have, where he really gets into the details of whatever it is that he's dealing with, whether it's computers or hostage negotiation or the details of running a stable.
