It's really fun being reminded of all the commands you used to have to give to get a computer to do anything. Twice Shy reminds me of my sixth form days when there was one computer in the school kept by the maths teacher in a cleared out cleaning cupboard. It was common to see him disappearing inside accompanied by a sixth former during dinner time. It was equally common that the computer didn't like the way the tape had been inserted or hoe C:LOAD had been typed so nothing would happen. I first read this book when the computer terminology was fairly current. Dick Francis is another author I have the full works of ( until his death when the name was taken over). I really enjoy how he creates the links between racing and whatever apparently unrelated background subject he's chosen for the novel.I'd agree that Twice Shy is the weakest of the three novels here but I liked The Danger more than you.
