SG1: Ark of Truth

Finally watched this! Uh, yes, I'm very behind. Thank you very much for the DVD, [livejournal.com profile] sgatazmy!

OH TEAL'C MY TEAL'C. *hugs him* Actually, nice to see them all again! But it should be no big surprise that the two scenes that really stood out for me were Teal'c talking to Tomin (oh, Teal'c! *wails*), and then getting shot in the back (I gasped!) and general coolness thereafter.

The movie was a visual feast. Gorgeous scenery and other worlds, neat special effects -- I loved flaming!Adria and the f/x when they dematerialized in the Supergate and, well ... all of it, actually.

It didn't rock my world in any major way, but it was a solid, fun, extra-long episode with great f/x -- and what else can you ask for, really? And I may have squeed a little bit when the theme music started playing across the beautiful mountains at the beginning. So nice to have a brand-new outing with the team again!

Edit: And the macaroons again! I may have squeed a little bit there, too! I had a particular fondness for that bit because I used them in a fic not too long ago.

I still haven't seen it :(

I was really disappointed in the final two seasons of SG-1, but I thought that Ark of Truth did all of the things that they'd failed to do in two years, which was make me care about the Ori storyline. I haven't bought the DVD - I rented it from the video store, but I'd watch the movie again. I may even rewatch the two seasons again just see if I like them better on the second go 'round.

Yep: it's all about Teal'c and Tomin. I wasn't thrilled with the movie; you can dig up my review if you want by using my SG-1 tag, but if you enjoyed it, you probably shouldn't.

I was a little disappointed with Ark of Truth and Continuum both, because of the fact that they're extra-long episodes. Continuum turns into a movie for about 10 minutes, but then the director must've slapped himself upside his head and reminded himself he was shooting a TV show or something...

The Ori *do* work better packed into a fast-paced two-hour episode than dragged over two seasons, don't they? I had my ups and downs with the Ori arc, and I *still* haven't seen the vast majority of season nine (though from all I've heard, I didn't miss a whole lot) but I really enjoyed this, and it was *so* gorgeous to look at; the f/x and scenery were just wonderful. It was just a good old-fashioned shoot-em-up space adventure, but sometimes I really crave those!

Heh. There really wasn't anything in the episode movie that's going to stick with me, that's for sure. It was pretty much total brain-candy. But I found it enjoyable and diverting while I was watching it, and I think I'd watch it again.

Haven't seen Continuum yet (and I'm basically 100% unspoiled for *anything* about the movie, so I'm looking forward to it) but yeah, this *definitely* felt like an extra-long episode of the show. I thought it was a pretty solid episode, as they go, but there wasn't anything in it that's going to stick with me for a long time.

Thanks for writing about it. I was kind of worried and hesitant to try it because I really want to keep my wonderful memories of SG-1 intact. But hearing someone else say they've enjoyed it and that it's similar to an episode makes me happy. I'm going to watch it soon!

I hope you like it! I did enjoy it -- I though it was a nice solid episode and a lot of fun.

We've been trying to be good Aussies and not download the movie but buy it when was released in Australia but that was April and we haven't got around to watching it yet. But we'll have to watch it before Continuum is released in August :)
