Ooooh, yes. I LOVE that entire "stranded far from help" suite of tropes. It's also another of those infinitely versatile things to write, because it changes so much depending on who you have caught out in the middle of nowhere, exactly -- military/law enforcement types or ordinary civilians, people with various skill sets ...

One thing that hasn't really come up for me lately is writing it with medically skilled characters (I believe this is the cue for sheron to drop in and tell me I need to write Claire more, and she's not wrong XD) but that certainly adds an extra frisson of emotional complications.
