*hands* I also know people who wrote long, impassioned essays about how the rape was exploitative and male-gaze bullshit and proof that the show was garbage and playing into the misogynistic tropes of rape as the central female pain and so forth and so on and etc.

So I think MMV is a very, very big part of that.
