S1's rape scene is actually one of the reasons I stuck with the show, because of the way it dealt with the Pure Nightmare of it without being titillating, and later stuck with consequences and grief unfolding over the next season and change. As late as S4 the woman concerned is allowed both a continuing fragility and to assert that she's processing and moving not past but through the pain.
Q's death was... playing into tropes of suicidality in a deeply awful way, because hey, his death did fix the world, and his friends are sad but not devastated.
