I suppose that my personal unconscious assumptions are distorted by my historical focus. :-) I think that I default-imagine visual artists surrounded by doodles, sketches, and drawings that they've made, traded or purchased, rather than by photos. :-) As well as ever in front of the things they're depicting, of course. :-)
