Fun with Ficathons

There are still a few days left to sign up for [livejournal.com profile] sga_genficathon -- sign-ups close on Jan. 31. (Next time I run a ficathon, I think the sign-up period is probably going to be shorter. On the other hand, I should have the assignments out very quickly after the end of the sign-up period, because I've got everybody all sorted and ready to go! Feel free to leave some more prompts, too.)

[livejournal.com profile] roga is running [livejournal.com profile] purimgifts -- sign-ups also close on Jan. 31. I'm full-up with projects and don't trust myself to commit myself to anything else right now, but it looks really fun: rules post here and sign-ups here.

Oh cool. To be honest I almost forgot about the date, but it'll be nice. I'm working on a long fic with my co-author, so I'll be wanting to write something else in between chapters.

This will be fun! Thanks for putting it together.

Well, Angst and Humor were the two genres I was originally leaning toward, so the needs of the ficathon seem to have dovetailed with my preferences. Now, as someone who's read a lot of my stuff, which would you prefer to see me do? (And yes, sure I can make my own decisions; it's just kind of fun to find out what someone else thinks.) :)

I'm enjoying myself so far, but we'll see if I'm still saying that when it comes time to get all those stories pulled together and posted. *g*

Oh fine ... make ME make the decision! *g*

I've always really loved the way you do humor -- it's funny but with an underlying serious element that kinda tugs at the heartstrings, too. So I suppose that's the direction in which I lean.

Okay, then - Humor it is! Maybe even a combination of Humor and Angst. We could call it Hangst! ;)

Labyrinth

I've still got to finish my story on Fanfiction.net. It only has three chapter so far, and not a lot of comments. I'll probably finish it before march, however. My penname is TricksterLover on Fanfiction.net, because Fitzwiggity is already taken. (I think.)

Foolishly impatient!

Please, may I have my prompts now? (jumping up and down with excitement!)

Well, it's up to you, of course -- you're welcome to sign up, but only you know if you think you can finish another story by March 30th!

I'm sorry! I know you're eager ... it's only a few more days! I don't want to send out any assignments early because I may need to switch things around at the last minute to accommodate late sign-ups. But sign-ups close on Thursday night and I should have the assignments out very quickly after that -- you'll certainly have it by the weekend!

Okay, recent weeks have reaffirmed to me that, no matter how much I WANT to sign up for ficathons and challenges and no matter how much time I THINK I'll have before it's due, I really REALLY shouldn't commit to these things because I usually end up letting people down.

So... if you need a "back up writer" for the sga_genficathon, PLEASE give me a nudge and I'll try my damnedest to come to the party. But it wouldn't be fair to pledge a commitment here and now because I truly SUCK at liveing up to these commitments. I really and truly do.

No worries! I put you down on the pinch hit list. :) Also, your prompts totally cracked me up. In fact, cracked is probably a good word for them. I don't think I'm quite cruel enough to make seven different people write a story to "Ronon Hears a Who" (pity the poor sucker who gets "Angst" for that one...), but now I'm tempted to have some kind of Doctor Seuss challenge at some point.

[identity profile] derry667.livejournal.com 2008-01-31 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
Aww c'mon! "A person's a person no matter how small" How much more angst-ridden can you get?

But yeah, cracked pretty much sums up the mood I was in.

Go the Dr Seuss challenge! I would REALLY try hard to be in that one ;-P
