For people familiar with SG-1 canon...

...I have a few Goa'uld technology questions. Well, a lot of them, actually. Maybe I should just re-watch some of the older episodes.

- Can ring transporters work through solid objects? For example (this is specifically what I want to do in the fic I'm writing), if you were inside a building and wanted to ring up to a ship, could you do it? Would you need anything special to enable you to do it?

- Do Goa'uld have remotes that enable them to operate the rings from outside the ship, or do they need an operator inside the ship to beam them up? If they have remotes, what do they look like?

- Does the SGC have the technology to track a Goa'uld transport beam? For example, if a ship was in orbit and it was beaming down to a planet, could that be detected and used to trace the location of the ship?

- Do Goa'uld ships have cloaking capabilities? If so, do they have to drop the cloak in order to use their transporter?

- Is there anything in canon to suggest that you CAN'T fly a Goa'uld mothership Al'kesh with only one person? i.e. is it possible?

EDIT: The specific Goa'uld ship in question is an Al'kesh -- Wikipedia tells me they can go into hyperspace (which is what I need) and a mothership is really too big for my purposes anyway.

Thank you to anyone who can help with any of these, or point me to a useful resource! I've poked around Wikipedia, but I'm having trouble finding anything that addresses my specific issues.

EDIT2: I figured I'd let you know exactly what my Goa'uld is doing. The idea (upon which my entire plot revolves, and I'm still not sure how plausible this is ... HELP) is that she escaped the culling of the other System Lords and is currently orbiting Earth in a cloaked Goa'uld ship. She is capable of transporting herself to the surface without being detected. Would this work? If it wouldn't, what might I need to do to make it work?
