I read a recent BIG Bang story where the POV switched between three team members throughout the story and constantly skipped one of them and for me that was very jarring. I understand if you're not good writing from character XYZ, but if you're going to do the rest of the team, then do all four.

Oog, I can see how that could be awkward, and potentially very alienating to fans of the character who was left out. Although ... I can also imagine that under some conditions it might be useful and necessary not to include all the POVs in the group. It's a tough decision.

In my sga_santa fic (the John, Jennifer & Rodney one) I generally tried to rotate between the characters in a regular order; I think that there were a couple of scenes where I diverged from the pattern because it worked better for the narrative, but generally I tried not to switch back to one of the three narrators before we'd heard from the other two.

I dislike floating POV myself (good way to put it, btw!), which was why I was so startled to realize that I'd done it! Heh. I thought I knew better, but obviously not!
