No, I am glad you weighed in, because this is a good point. Honesty doesn't necessarily trump consideration for someone else's feelings ... and I think that's the basic internal conflict that I have on this sort of thing, because I *want* to be honest about the stories I discuss, but if I do rec something, I'd like it to be a positive thing for the author and not something that leaves them bitter and sad.

Edit: Oh, and it sounds like you use recs just like I do, as a reading list rather than a review. It's not just me! That's cool to know. I think a lot of my approach to reccing has to do with my minimalist approach to *reading* recs.
