I felt Marcus was a random refugee from a different show entirely! I could never shake that impression!
Yes! I think that really nails the problem I'm having with him. I think I was particularly bothered by the episode where he holds his own in a staff fight with Neroon. He does eventually lose, but there is _no way_ a guy who just learned Minbari fighting techniques a year ago should be able to do anything against a middle-aged warrior who has been studying it full time for his whole life except get the floor mopped with him. And yeah, that's the feeling, like he walked in from a show where the rules are a bit different. His sort of bickery thing with Ivanova also feels like it's tracking on standard love story tropes from a different kind of show. I don't even know!! I don't hate him, and I'm even enjoying him now and then by this point, but the rest of the cast gels so nicely (even the ones who are peripheral members of it, like Lyta) and then there's him.
