Oh yes, that's right, I forgot about Wilks! (And Takes a Holiday as mentioned below.) But yeah, I think he does seem to become much more aware of his responsibilities post-WW2 when he ends up with the Air Police; between wars he seems to be much more at loose ends, willing to try almost anything that strikes his fancy, and therefore better positioned to go running off at the drop of a hat because an old friend needs him. It makes a very interesting difference in plots, now that I think about it ...

(Edit: I also want ALL the recovering Biggles fic post-Looks Back. He really doesn't get that badly hurt very often, and in front of EvS, no less.)
